Family company

“As a family company, we have already shown our commitment to the organic market for more than 20 years by continuously increasing our organic assortment and attending lots of fairs and organic meetings”, says Günter Hugenberg (organic coordinator for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Bejo). “We are pleased to be a sponsor of the 2nd edition of this event, because it combines practice, research and theory in an efficient way that fulfils the demands of our customers”.

Wide assortment

Bejo currently offers organic seed from almost 200 varieties of 50 crops. On display in the demo field will be organic carrot Napoli F1, an early Nantes type, plus Hylander F1 and Redlander F1, onion varieties which are highly resistant against downy mildew (HR: Peronospora destructor). Organic Kohlrabi varieties will also be on display, along with lettuce varieties Malis (Butterhead), Times (Iceberg) and Agribel (Batavia).

To show our top-quality organic varieties during the field days, carrots and onions have already been sown at the Bejo Demo field. Lettuce and kohlrabi will be planted later at the back of the field.

Breeding for organic

Bejo´s strategy ´breeding for organic´ and being a conventional and organic breeder results in a wonderful cross fertilization. On the one hand, organic production brings inspiration and new ideas for conventional production. On the other hand, Bejo builds its organic business on the knowledge, experience and infrastructure that has been built in the last century. At Bejo breeding for organic is leveraging the broad genetic base and the latest technologies. Breeding for organic allows Bejo to develop high yielding varieties with improved resilience, producing high-quality seeds and stimulating innovation.

You will find Bejo at stand G-25 (indoor) and A-14 (outdoor). Visitors can buy a ticket at the entrance on the day.
