Varieties of the futurebestuiving
Vegetable varieties with unique characteristics are the result of highly skilled staff working in innovative research programmes. For this reason, Bejo invests a substantial part of its annual revenue in research. Our breeding teams and research centre closely cooperate to create the varieties of the future: innovation and improvement - the key words to success!

Our intensive, multi-year breeding programmes produce some 40 new vegetable varieties each year offering the characteristics demanded by the food chain. For instance healthier crops, increased resistance to disease, higher yields for processors or enhanced flavour and aroma for consumers.

Bejo researchers specialise in resistance breeding, tissue culture techniques, cell biology, DNA marker technology and research into nutritional contents beneficial to health. Bejo is active in no less than 60 projects relating to resistance breeding. Each year, Bejo conducts thousands of tests and trials worldwide. We have breeding stations in the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, India and Guatemala.
