Cor Beemsterboer and Jacob Jong were true pioneers in seed breeding - more than a century ago this baker's son and grocer specialised in the selection and breeding of cabbage, carrots and onions.
In 1963 they made a joint investment in a new hybridisation technique. This was such a successful move that the two companies decided to merge in 1978, creating the family run company Bejo. By joining forces they literally sowed the seeds of our current success. Motivated by innovation and forward thinking Bejo has continued to flourish since then.
The range of crops continued to increase, international activities expanded and new premises were built in Warmenhuizen (the Netherlands). This site is still home to the Bejo Zaden B.V. head office.
